Web-based Decision Support System for Agribusiness Development in Oil Palm Plantations at Siak Local Government Using Policy Analysis Matrix

چکیده
Agribusiness development in oil palm plantations can be used as one of the local government efforts, particularly by Siak local government in Indonesia, in generating revenue. Therefore we need a study that can provide a comparison of the level of competitiveness and efficiency of policies in the development of palm oil and its impact. The research was conducted by using the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). The calculations in PAM are quite complicated and difficult. Therefore, in conducting this study, we also created a web-based decision support system called Decision Support Systems fo Oil Palm Plantations (DSSOPP). By using DSSOPP, the simulation of various change variables scenarios in the calculation of PAM can be done more easily and quickly. In addition, it can be seen that the simulation results of the DSSOPP were quite suitable with the opinion and the experience of economic experts.

In Malaysia, there are plentiful of palm biomass but not always these resources are fully utilised. In the perspective of biomass industry owner, there are three factors that affect the business decision, (i) constant and good quality supplies, (ii) process efficiency, (iii) market demand and price. The strategy considerations that respond to these factors are based on other players’ competitio...
متن کاملMitigating the impact of oil-palm monoculture on freshwater fishes in Southeast Asia.
Anthropogenic land-cover change is driving biodiversity loss worldwide. At the epicenter of this crisis lies Southeast Asia, where biodiversity-rich forests are being converted to oil-palm monocultures. As demand for palm oil increases, there is an urgent need to find strategies that maintain biodiversity in plantations. Previous studies found that retaining forest patches within plantations be...
متن کاملCarbon emissions from forest conversion by Kalimantan oil palm plantations
Oil palm supplies >30% of world vegetable oil production1. Plantation expansion is occurring throughout the tropics, predominantly in Indonesia, where forests with heterogeneous carbon stocks undergo high conversion rates2–4. Quantifying oil palm’s contribution to global carbon budgets therefore requires refined spatio-temporal assessments of land cover converted to plantations5,6. Here, we rep...
متن کاملMapping Oil Palm Plantations in Cameroon Using PALSAR 50-m Orthorectified Mosaic Images
Oil palm plantations have expanded rapidly. Estimating either positive effects on the economy, or negative effects on the environment, requires accurate maps. In this paper, three classification algorithms (Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree and K-Means) were explored to map oil palm plantations in Cameroon, using PALSAR 50 m Orthorectified Mosaic images and differently sized training ...
